Where to Start

From day to day the kids do things that are sometimes hilarious, sometimes amazing, and sometimes sad. I found that no matter how hard I try, I just can’t remember everything that goes on in this crazy house. So I decided to start putting my thoughts down in this blog at the end of each day. I will probably be the only one to ever read it, but if it does nothing more than help me remember, it will be worth the work.

Since this is a public blog, I will refer to each member of the family by nickname rather than by real name. Those who know us will know who I am talking about.

The cast of my life:

  • The Wife - a wonderful, very hard working, stay at home mom. She puts in more hours at her job than I ever will at mine. How she keeps the kids from driving her insane I will never know.
  • The Oldest - our six year old, almost out of kindergarten, brilliant, amazingly lazy, head strong, oldest son.
  • The Princess - our three year old, sly, moody, quite cute, girl.
  • The Car Buff - our three year old, stubborn, strong as an ox (and almost as heavy), tank of a boy who loves everything about cars.
  • The Tinkerer - our three year old, overly curious, always happy, lanky, athletic boy.
  • Myself - a smart, quite geeky, technophile, with a tendency to not think things through, and the memory of a gnat.

So if you noticed there are three, three year olds in that list. We had a simple, quiet, boring life, just myself, the wife and the oldest. Then the wife and I decided the oldest needed a brother or a sister. Everyone needs a brother or sister. He ended up with both brothers and a sister, and our lives have been neither simple, nor quiet since then. But at least its not boring any more.
